An ultrasound is a noninvasive imaging modality that uses sound to image structures of the body such as blood vessels, internal organs, and even obstetrics. In addition to the structure of an organ, sometimes a color flow Doppler is performed. A color flow Doppler is considered the standard of care when an organ has high blood flow, such as the liver, testicles, and ovaries. A regular ultrasound uses sound waves to produce images, but doesn’t show blood flow which can often be a cause of disease.
